Dingle: IrelandYes Forum Meet Up

Hi Everyone,

I know that a bunch of you will be in Dingle at the same time. I thought I would start a thread for those who would like to meet in Dingle. That way the replies will not be lost under another topic. I only wish I was going to be there too!

Michele

I don't get to Ireland until the 28th. :(

I'd love to meet the "real" IrelandYes gang. Let me know if anyone is planning a visit to Milwaukee for Irish Fest, Aug 16-19th. It's the nation's largest!

I believe the planned Get To Gether is scheduled for afternoon/evening of the 24th of May.  Sadly, I shall only be there in spirit, as my flesh shall not arrive in Ireland until the 19th of Junehmm cry hmm

Judy,

Rather than hijacking the Dingle Meet Up thread...I'll start a new one for Milwaukee Irish Fest.

Hello Helen, April May and Matt:

I will defer to your judgement about where to meet in Dingle on the 24th, or we can get advice from others on the forum who know the area and can recommend a pub or restaurant.  This will be my first time there.  I have heard good things about Murphy's Pub, and also the Global Village Restaurant.

What fun!  My incessant planning had left me feeling a little drained, but I am starting to get excited again.  biggrin.gif

Perhaps Michele can weigh in with a recommendation?!!

Hi Everyone,

Our computer has been down for a couple days, finally using our son's (we are "kid sitting" 5 and 7 year old grandsons-both pistols!) computer.  Hopefully I will finish this, all I hear is "Grandma, Grandma!!"

Happy to hear the Dingle IrelandYes Forum Meet Up is going ahead!  We are all for it and will continue this when we return home, if I make It!!

By my count y'all are now at 12 or 13 for the Grand IrelandYes Dingle Gathering.  Gran55 (Sandy) may also be in Dingle on those dates, so it COULD be as many as 15!

The rest of us will be expecting lots of pix and ALL the gory details...

We need to decide the "where" and "when" soon.  We leave for Ireland on Saturday the 12th.  I'll throw out the first suggestion.  The 24th is a Thursday.  After looking at the link Bob provided (thanks!) Murphy's looks like a good bet for Trad and Ballads.  How about an evening there?wink.gif

Marie,

The evening of the 24th works for us, we should be done with the Circum-Dingle tour by then and Murphy's sounds like just I'll need!

We'll need to come to an agreement on a time and how to ID each other. I've seen your pic and Helen's but I don't have any to post of me as yet.

Hmmm, I'm guessing the 6ft high tour guide "banner on a stick" is out......lol.

Wish I could join you! Unless there are two Murphy's Pubs, I think this is a photo of it from my trip last fall. It was packed both times we tried to get in, but you all might have better luck.
At least I will be on vacation in Colorado -- heading out tomorrow. Have fun!

Hi Everyone,

Murphy's would be perfect for the meetup. It is on the edge of town facing the harbor. Have fun and have a Smithwick's for me!

Looks like we'll miss the "Grand Group" on Thurs. We will arrive in Dingle on Friday May 25. Marie, I think you'll still be there. Anyone else interested in meeting FRIDAY evening? Murphy's sounds fine. *Maybe as a Yank, we'll be treated to a free pint after the crowd the night before?!?

Hi, Mark:

I don't have an exact plan in Dingle as yet, but we will be at the Tower View B & B the 24th and 25th.  Once I am there, I will know if the 25th is a possibility.  Perhaps you could call me.  I will  have a cell phone, but I don't have the number yet.  I'll let you know when I get it!

Hi All,

Murphy's on the 24th sounds fine.  We are coming from Killarney, with only a couple stops on the way.   We shall also be in Dingle on Thursday.  So, what time to meet?  Maybe we should all bring Michele's book, and wave it!

Ok, so tentative plans are:

Date: May 24
Venue: Murphy's
Time: To Be Determined

As I've said, I have no idea how long we'll be out on the drive so a evening time works best on this side.

What say you?

That works for us.  I think April is having dinner at the Shores, so we might want to find out what time is good for her.

We can discuss NYC together. I lived on the Island and my mother grew up in the City. A true bunch of Yanks!
