Bringing your AT&T Cell Phone to Ireland

I've been reading posts about purchasing the Tesco SIM cards.  Are these designed to be used with US cell phones?  Do US cell phones with International coverage work in Ireland?  I need to be able to keep in touch with home while in Ireland next April. Do most travelers to Ireland NOT bring their own cell from home?  I traveled to Amsterdam in 2008 and had no trouble at all making/receiving calls from Texas.   Wondering about coverage in Ireland.  Thanks for your input!confuse

Sam,

Welcome to my forum. If your AT&T phone worked in Amsterdam then it will work in Ireland. Most people find it too expensive to use their USA phone. That's why they rent or purchase one in Ireland. It all depends on your calling plan. A quick phone call to AT&T will reveal their rates in Ireland and any other info you might need about your personal plan.
