An Irish Winter

It's been an unseasonably cold Winter in Ireland lately. We've had almost a month of below freezing temperatures and snow lying on the ground for most of that time too! Rather than dreaming of a White Christmas, most of us were hoping for a Green one instead!

Nevertheless it made for some very pretty pictures and lots of us here have been out and about trying to capture the winter wonderland. I took a walk up to the megalithic cairns at Loughcrew (Sliabh na Cailli or Witches Mountain) a couple of weeks ago ... and here's a little of what it looked like:

Sue,

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos of Ireland. Hope the cold weather did not greatly impact you. I understand that many were without water during the thaw. It has been unusually cold in the southern US too. We had snow in Atlanta on Christmas day.

Thanks Sue for the pic's. I'm Glad to see that I'm not the only the one that gets snow. I just wish that the snow here in upstate New York would leave. Every thing is white here. We sometimes not only have a white christmas but a white easter as well. I look forward to seeing a green Ireland in May.

Hi Frank,
Snow is all gone now thank goodness - in fact Spring has arrived with a bang - almost summery weather. I was in Sligo, near Mullaghmore this weekend - these photos might whet your appetite for your trip!

Hi Sue,

Ah green grass, haven't seen that in awhile. We still have the white stuff here. 14f degrees here. Thanks for the pic's.
