Cobh ferry

Hi Michele
One day of our itinerary starts with a tour of the Rock of Cashel and then travels south with an overnight in Kinsale. On the way to Kinsale, we may stop in Cobh (or add it to the next trip:D ). I seem to recall from somewhere that there’s a ferry that runs from Cobh toward Kinsale that would enable us to bypass the Cork traffic. I can’t seem to find any information about this on the web. Do you have knowledge of this ferry? Do we need reservations? Is it expensive? Many thanks.

Vicki

Vicki,

Go to my "Transport" page and look at "Ferries Within Ireland". The Cross River Ferries and website is listed there. Also on page 184 of my 2005 book.

It makes a good shortcut and is not expensive. No reservations needed. It takes about 5 minutes to cross the river and the ferry goes from 7:30 to midnight. It is closed Dec 24 to Jan 2.
