Galway/Salthill B&B

Michelle,

Do you have any recommendations for a B&B in Galway or Salthill? We would like to be as close to the bay as possible and either within walking distance of city center or near a bus route. Since I'm not familiar with the street names, I'm having a hard time telling just where some of the B&Bs are located.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

Kathleen

B&B-Salthill

I highly recommend Marless House in Salthill. It's right near the bay and there's a bustop close by. Mary, the hostess, is wonderful and her home is spiffy!

Some friends of mine stayed at Marless House(Oct 2004) as well , and loved it. They remarked that they especially liked the breakfasts.

If you are looking for something more 'in town' - I stayed at Brennans Yard in 2000. It is more hotel-like , but you can get it with breakfast. They often have 2 night specials. We parked the car and walked everywhere we needed to go. It is located just off the water, a few blocks from the Spanish Arch , and not far from Eyre Square Mall.

Kathleen,

I must agree with Ande and Debbie. Marless House is lovely and Mary is a gem. Also, check on my "Lodgings" page for suggestions. My book is chock-full of great B&Bs with complete reviews.

Kathleen,

I hope you can get a reservation at Marless. Tell Mary I recommended you stay there. Name dropping never hurts! ;)
