Back from Ireland

Hi Everyone,

Just a note to let you all know that I'm just back from 20 days in Ireland. I want to thank everyone for answering the various questions on the forum while I was traveling. I found lots of great new places on this trip. Some of them are real hidden gems. On my husband's wish list was a B&B overlooking the ocean. He was very pleased that I found him a historic guesthouse on an island just a few steps from the beach that used to be a coast guard station in the 1800s. He was also happy that we weren't sleeping in the haunted room!

The weather wasn't the greatest. Most of the time it was very windy and we had plenty of showers and some hail. But there were a few teases of sunshine and rainbows along the way. It was a good trip but I'm glad to be home. Better go before the jet-lag takes over.

Michele

Welcome back, Michele!

It sounds as if you had the same weather as I did a couple of weeks ago.  It rained nearly every day and two of the days had "slashing winds," as I heard them called.  It didn't matter, though.  I was still in Ireland!!

Glad you found some new spots.

Hi Michele,

Welcome home- I look forward to hearing about your "new hidden gems".

We are planning on a return trip in 2007-so it's never to soon to start planning

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your "welcome home" messages. It does take a while to get over the jet-lag and get all the info that I gathered orgainzed. One hidden gem that deserves mention is Bervie in Keel on Achill Island: http://www.bervieachill.com/ Elizabeth is a wonderful host and it is a fantastic place to stay that is off the beaten path but well worth the detour.

Michele
