Rock of Cashel

They are restoring Cormac's Chapel and have been for a couple of years. Since it is ongoing it may take another few years. The scaffolding covers a portion of the ruins, not all. So the Rock of Cashel is still visible and impressive. Here is a photo: http://tinyurl.com/ctnhhsb

Have read on earlier posts that cashel was surrounded by scaffolding.  How is the project progresing to date.  We'll be there in October but have other places we can stop.  (Saw the Statue of Liberty under scaffolding and didn't see much)

Thanks

Sue

Wow, glad I knew this before we visit. That could drop it on our short list if we're running low on time.

Thanks for the picture Michele.

The tour of the Rock takes about 40 minutes and is highly informative. The Scaffold is on one corner only in an area which was only slightly accessible before the renovation work began. For what it is worth I rate the place as one of the best 6 Euro to be spent in Ireland.

I was there last week. Loved it. Great tour, great history, nice town, plus delightful rainbow.

We were just there on Wednesday. Despite the scaffolding, which as mentioned are only on a portion of the exterior, the site itself is very impressive and worthy of a stop. Do take the 45-minute tour as it was very informative. The Rock of Cashel was our very last stop of our trip on the way back to Dublin for our flight home. I'm so glad that we didn't skip it. The views of it from a distance were awesome and the views from it overlooking the valley below were equally fantastic.

I'm working on it now, mainly for my own use to remember everything that we did.  It's rather detailed and lengthy though - do you really want to see the whole thing?  Or just a brief synopsis of the dates and places we stopped?

confuseIt has to be brief and concise, my brain can't process more than 200 words at once hence my writing has ground to a haltno. Just the basics best and worst, what you wish you had known before you arrived that type of thing. almost sorry I asked now wink
