Shoes

What are good shoes to wear for a nine day tour to Ireland? We are going in September and we are doing the Shades of Ireland tour. Just seeing the southern part....for now. ;)

Not wholly useful , but walking shoes are recommended. www.gocollette.com/guided-travel/faq. September can be wet !

I like the "Spira" men's classic walking shoe. Also available for ladies. White or black. DW and myself are on our feet all day and these are the most comfortable shoes I have found to date. About 3/8 inch cushion in every step due to 3 springs inbedded in the rubber of the sole of each shoe. The classic ($99-129) has more cushion then their less expensive ($89) version. Has good tread on bottom and good support. Have in the past used the Nike Air with jell insoles but like the Spira better. Can order direct from company but got a better deal on Amazon when I purchased my 3rd pair recently. Need to get another pair ordered soon and broke in for our Ireland trip in Oct. It does take longer to break them in...allow a couple of weeks! Dan

I took my LL Bean waterproof trail model hikers last year, and will take them again (new pair) this year. Lots of rain, but my feet were always warm and dry. They make both men's and women's models. Kept my feet dry even in pouring rain!

Take two pairs so you always have one drying. I like leather walking shoes or loafers, have worn hikers but heavy. Spray some waterproofing spray on them before leaving.

Totally agree about the waterproof spray. It can be good on more than shoes too.
