OSI Ireland Road a Atlas

I decided to order an Ireland OSI road atlas. I wanted to let everyone know that the OSI web sight is selling them for 9.99 Euro with free shipping on all paper maps thru Aug 31.  It is a February 2013 version, is spiral bound and 109 pages.  I have several paper maps of various ages/conditions and decided it was time to upgrade.

Dan, That is a good price. I think I've paid more for one in the past. It is an excellent map and easy to use as you just flip the pages. It will get you where you want to go.

I had an OLD (2004?) OSI Atlas that I finally replaced with a 2012-2013 Edition.  Bought mine at the Service Plaza just off the M7 / M8, near Kildare.

I think I paid 12 Euro, so it sounds like you got a good deal!  biggrin

Use mine on every trip (as well as for planning and answering Forum questions.  Think you will be well pleased.

For anyone else interested, the Atlas can be had, here:  http://shop.osi.ie/Shop/Products/StockedItemsWH03/Best+Sellers(StockedItems)/Default.aspx

Glad this was posted.  Am excited to purchase something like this in a spiral bound format instead of a regular map.  I found one on Amazon for $3 plus a few more bucks for shipping, so there are some great buys on this kind of thing out there.

Thanks for the information!

Good buy Geno! I looked on Amazon too and they were from a couple of used books stores and they indicated there could possibly be pen/pencil marks or high lighter marks in them. Hopefully you got a new one! Dan

It is supposed to be in great condition -- but we will see! smile

Was worth a try at that price.

My OSI Ireland Road Atlas arrived Saturday Aug 2.  Ordered it on July 26th, so it took just 1 week, post marked July 27th, from Phoenix Park Dublin!  Invoice said 9.99 Euro.  Amount charged to my credit card $13.46!

It is an awesome looking map!  GD is spending the weekend with us. We showed her the new packing cubes and she was impressed.  Also took an orange high lighter and started marking our route(s) in the new atlas. The atlas is very detailed and will be a joy to use!

Got mine in a few days though Amazon.  Great condition.  Paid $3 for it and shipping was $3.

That was a deal!smile

Trying to fold and unfold a big map is no treat. This will be much better. The size is incredible for navigation in a car, and the spiral bound version a real good idea.

We got ours for 9.99 euro w/ free shipping and it arrived within a week. My wife has gotten lost three times already and that was in our kitchen alone. I can't imagine what will happen when we get to Ireland next month wink

Edit - it's a nice book. Thanks for the heads up

Glenn --

I feel your pain!  biggrin  biggrin

A typical trip with my wife goes something like this:

ME:  "Which way do I turn?"  As we approach a junction or roundabout.

Mrs:  "Uhmm . . ."  As she fumbles with the CLOSED Atlas, sitting on her lap, disrupted from dreamily looking out the window at the sights.

"Uhmm . . ."  As she fumbles to locate her reading glasses case SOMEWHERE in the console.

"Uhmm . . ." As she realizes that the glasses are NOT in the case, but are 'hooked' to her shirt.

"Uhmm . . ."  As she puts them on and attempts to find the page.

ME:    "Never mind."  As I negotiate the turn / roundabout.

Mrs:    "What?"  As she hears my frustrated 'Huff' of annoyance.

ME:     "God, I miss your sister."  (The CONCIENTIOUS navigator from a few previous trips)

Mrs:     "I thought YOU were supposed to be the expert!"  Atlas is closed, glasses are returned to case and hurt and angry silence follows.  hmm  hmm  hmm

Repeat at NEXT intersection / roundabout!  disbelief disbelief

I use my Atlas a LOT.  It's very useful for planning and securing validation.  I HAVE, however, come to use my GPS more and more, over the years --

As it tends to make for more peaceful travel!  biggrin  biggrin  biggrin  biggrin

Bob, Thanks for my laugh of the day. biggrin biggrin You would enjoy having me as the navigator! My husband often says "I hope you're wrong." Problem is, I'm usually right 99% of the time.

Bob that was great and sounds just like us including the "... hurt and angry silence..."

We've already discussed the fact that we will indeed get lost and that we will try and make the best of it and limit the "hurt and angry silence" however I did explain ways that she can make it up to me.... biggrin

Oh wait she can read this... I better stop before  I get in trouble smile

Ours arrived Friday - also for a card charge of $13.46. I ordered the updated Garmin maps last night...now if we can just get through the planning...only five weeks to go and we only have 2/3 of the trip planned!

What a hoot Glenn and Bob!

DW and I have had our moments too as I suppose most all couples must in that situation. I am totally convinced that the GPS is the way to go and takes a lot of stress out of driving...for me. As for dreamily looking out the window, I'm not surprised due to the beauty of the countryside in Ireland. That is the biggest negative about being the designated driver...missing a lot of sight seeing. I negate that by pulling off numerous times in wide spots in the road to have a "look-see". I think it is my attempts to do some sight seeing WHILE driving that make DW the most uptight. I do enjoy the challenges of driving over there!

Glenn, I am not sure how I have gotten lost 3-4 times in our kitchen? the atlas is confusing but I am sure I will get us to our destinations. You may get the "hurt and angry silence" at some points, but I will get us there.
