transportation for our two days in Dublin

We will not be renting a car while we are in Dublin for two days at the beginning of our trip but will be picking up our rental at the airport on day 3.

A taxi to our hotel from the airport would be 25-30 so will say 50-60 roundtrip and doesn't include anything else.

We could take the Airlink 747 bus into Dublin to O'Connell St. (10 pp)

Then a city bus to our hotel which is the Roxford Lodge hotel. (2 pp)

During our stay we would be getting tickets for the HOHO bus to do some sightseeing. (16.15 pp)

Then take a city bus back to O'Connell St to pick up the Airlink 747 bus back to the terminal to get our rental. (2 pp)

Total = 60.30

We could get a Airlink combo ticket which includes a 2 day HOHO pass for 24 pp (http://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/airlink/airlinkComboRtn.aspx) and would need the city bus back to the airlink bus which would be an additional 8 bringing the total up to 56.

They also offer the freedom ticket for 30 pp which includes the Airlink, HOHO and city buses. http://www.dublinsightseeing.ie/FreedomTicket.aspx Even though we will only be in Dublin for two days this seems like the right choice as it gives us the option of using the city buses anytime we wanted for only 4 more.

My question is am I missing something? Do you have to wait until day 3 to use the return Airlink service to the airport? Will we use the city bus service other than to and from the airlink bus?

Thanks for reading through this and for any tips/advice you can offer.

Glenn

The website says 72 hours later you use Airlink back to the airport. So that would be on day three (arrival day is day one, next day is day two, day three would be returning to airport). Does that fit into your schedule? If not I suggest you email for more accurate info.

There's also the 3-day Leap Card for 19.50E pp. It doesn't include the HOHO. http://irishfireside.com/2014/06/20/leap-card-tourists-dublin-unveils-one-travel-pass/

Taken from their website today:

The Leap Visitor Card is a pre-paid ticket that allows you unlimited travel for 72 hours (3 days) after first use on:

Airlink 747 airport bus service
All Dublin Bus scheduled services (not valid on tours)
All Luas (tram) services
DART and Commuter Rail in the Short Hop Zone (all of Dublin city and county)

You can buy a Leap Visitor Card for only 19.50 at the Spar shop in the arrivals hall in T1 or T2, or at the Travel Information desk in Terminal 1.
