Ballyvaughan, County Clare

Hi Michele & group,

We have decided our next stop (after Mountshannon) will be Ballvaughan for 3 nights.  The first day will be taken up with travel, since Brian wants to visit Ballylongford in Co Kerry, home of his Scanlon ancestors.  We will take the Tarbert ferry up from there.  Weather permitting, day two will be the Inis Oirr / Cliffs of Moher ferry day trip. Day three we will explore The Burren.  We have never visited the Dysert O'Dea site, or Coole Park.  Corcomroe Abbey sounds like our kind of place, as does Kilmacduagh Abbey (although we might have been there before).  Maybe we need another day!  We talked about doing Galway city as a day trip from Ballyvaughan, but now I am considering spending one night in Salthill for that purpose before heading for Clifden.

I am waiting for a reply from Burren View B&B.  The website has changed to burrenview.com (from burrenviewclare.com) and one of the email addresses in the book seems to have gone away with the old website.  I've tried the other email and am waiting ... impatiently, of course smile

If I don't get a reply by tomorrow morning, I think I will try the telephone (the #s on the website match your book, so I know it's the right place).  If she can't accommodate us, I'm looking at Meadowfield B&B or Oceanview House.  Suggestions / comments welcome.

Thanks much!

Websites come and go quickly. I will make note to change Burren View in my next book. Thanks for the head's up. Drumcreehy House is very nice but since it is a guesthouse it is a little more expensive. Have you looked at Cappabhaile House? It is nice too.

It is possible they have been busy over Easter so emails might not have been top of the do list. Unfortunately I cant comment much on Ballyvaughn as I only drive through.
