Dan Dooley's New Location at Shannon

Starting today, Dan Dooley's Shannon office has a new location. They have relocated to the industrial estate directly outside Shannon Airport. Their shuttle will continue move customers to and from the rentals office as they did to the old location; however, the shuttle pickup is in a different location (note: they don't have a desk in the arrivals hall like the other rental car companies)...

As you exit the baggage hall, take an immediate left turn and follow the signs to "Coach Park 1" the Dooley Car Rentals Shuttle bus will be waiting to take you directly to your rental vehicle. If you have any issues contact our staff at Shannon on +353 61 471098.

Note: if you're calling that number from a phone with an Irish SIM card it would be 061 471098 (drop the 353 and add a zero).

Thanks Corey. Are there any signs for tourists about Dooley or do they have to ask?

You won't see signs in the airport or at the bus stop for Dooley (Dooley says Shannon Airport wants too much money for them)... the Septre Tours desk with the black "7" on it still fields Dooley questions (but no sign will tell you that). They were still waiting for their signs to be installed at the roundabout outside the airport... Liam will be back there this weekend, so he'll get to get a good look at the place.

Sounds like the best thing is for people to go to the information desk on arrival for more info about Dooley. We will wait for Liam's update and really appreciate the info.

Just wondering if Dooley will still have the shuttle back to Shannon after regular office hours from the new location.

When dropping off a rental the night before a flight and staying at the Park Inn, will someone still be able to easily get back to Shannon after hours?

Good question Judy. We will wait for Liam's answer via Corey. Meanwhile Dooley's facebook page has some instructions: https://www.facebook.com/dooleycarrentals

Over the past few weeks the busy bees at our Shannon Branch have been working hard on a full office make over. If you are picking up a car from Shannon please note that our pickup arrangements have changed slightly. Here is the simplest way to collect your rental from us....."As you exit the baggage hall, take an immediate left turn and follow the signs to "Coach Park 1" where the Dooley Car Rentals Shuttle bus will be waiting (we operate every 10-15 minutes) to take you directly to your rental vehicle. If you have any issues please contact our staff at Shannon on +353 61 471098 or mail us.

Dooley just replied to me on Facebook saying that the 5 am-9 pm time for the shuttle is for Dublin not Shannon. They are finding out and will reply tomorrow. Stay tuned.

No signs that I could see in Arrivals this Morning, the shuttle bus was waiting on the coach park.

I am told by someone on another forum that Dooley had emailed her with instructions for when she arrives on Sunday.

I guess that answers my question.

"As best we can" means don't count on it.

Maybe the Park Inn would provide after hours shuttle service. It would certainly be in their best interest.

Judy:  "As best we can" probably translates into:  "We'll post the number for a local taxi"   hmm  hmm

I wouldn't mind that, though, if I could manage to find decent flights into (and/or out of) Shannon!  furious  furious

I was really upset when Aer Lingus dropped their directed flights Chicago to Shannon. It doesn't look like they will change back to those flights anytime soon. At least United still has direct Chicago to Shannon.

Back before 'Open Skies', Delta used to alternate flying into SNN or Dublin, every other day, direct from Atlanta on a 767.  Now ATL's flights only go to DUB.  cry

Continental (now United) only uses the Bigger jets to Dublin from Newark.

Most of the JFK and BOS flights are on 757s, which seat 3 and 3 . . .  furious

USAir flies direct from Charlotte to Dublin -- but only uses 757s.  Not sure what equipment they use out of Philly confuse  confuse

Since the Mrs. has flying 'issues' we REQUIRE flights that involve a MAXIMUM of 1 stopover.  That's hard to do from North Florida!  evileye  evileye

For the last few years we have gone Atlanta - Newark - Shannon on United. The direct flight from ATL to Ireland is on Delta.

Our local airport offers four choices -- USAir via Charlotte, Delta via Atlanta, or American, via Miami, United, via Orlando and either Newark OR Chicago.

Single layover flights mean either GNV -CLT-DUB, or GNV-ATL-DUB.  ALL flights into SNN require (2 or more) layovers.  Time isn't the issue any more, now that we are retired, but two take offs and landings each way is already almost too many for my wife

Dooley is still waiting to have their signs installed at the roundabout outside the airport. It's not too hard to find, but it's in the middle of a business park very near the airport, so it doesn't stand out.

Fingers crossed that they provide an after-hours drop-off option.

I would so enjoy trying to find the new location, if I could ever get a decent flight into Shannon again! evileye   Sure wish the options of years ago were available, instead of having to go through Dublin.  It is so much more expensive for us to fly into Shannon, and no direct flights.

One can dream!

Just a little update... here's a pic of Dooley's new location near Shannon (it's the 3rd grey building, the one with the green sign at the top)...

dooley-1024x768.jpg

Even when you know where you're going, it kind of feels like you might be in the wrong place because most of other buildings in the business park are vacant (and some are in bad shape).

There still isn't good signage from the main road (it seems there's quite a process to get signs approved). They mentioned they might try lining the route with balloons or something that doesn't require approval. Truth is, anything will help. Fortunately, their shuttles are now branded with "Dan Dooley" and "Sceptre Tours" on the side (no more looking for the elusive shuttle with a #7 on the windscreen).

Although it might be a challenge returning to the location when you bring back your car... and the area looks a bit like a scene from an apocalyptic film... there is LOADS OF ROOM to test drive your rental before hitting the Irish roads... in fact it's like a mini test drive course.

I've been in and out of Shannon ten times. But this time I'm going into Dublin and out from Shannon. I haven't seen the new setup, and my question is when driving into Shannon will I see the Dooley drop off area easily? Thanks.

David

There is a very small brown sign on left at the approach roundabout pointing onto the industrial estate. I know where it is and to be honest, following the signs,, I wouldn't find it !!

use the link Corey has given and go to street view then walk your way through the approach and provided you can remember it you will be fine.

Chaika,

You definitely won't see it from the main road into Shannon... and as Tony mentioned, you'd be in the minority if you spot the sign.

The map should help... it's the very last roundabout before you are on the airport property... so if you pass the abandoned checkpoint booth, you just missed the turn.

Good luck.

Corey,

Welcome back from Ireland. I hear it was a very wet summer. But I hope you enjoyed it anyway.
