Website Redo: Tell Me What You Want

Hi Everyone,

I am currently working on a complete remodel of my IrelandYes.com website. I will be bringing it up to date with a new more streamlined design and new info. I am aware that my Weather page is not working.

What do you want to see on the website? What would be helpful info to include? I am open to all suggestions. Thanks.  biggrin

Michele

To be honest I quite like it as it is.

I like the "helpful" button on the VT forum,
I guess a section for photographs might be appealing to some readers.
Maybe a review section? not my thing but possibly a reason why many go to TA?

Possibly make the "start a new topic" box a bit more obvious?

Thanks Tony,

I like the idea of a "review" section for the forum. Actually it is this website that I am redoing: http://www.irelandyes.com/ I think the pages are too cluttered and want to simplify yet add new info too. Also, the style is outdated and needs to be modernized and made more user-friendly.

Michele

I was trying to think of the reasons I check other Ireland forums when planning a trip.  I agree that a review section would be helpful as I do check Trip Advisor for that info.  I use it for reviews on places to stay, eat and visit.  Since the people who post here are so knowlegeable and kind (that's not true on other sites) that might be really helpful to everyone.  I do like that your forum separates questions and trip reports - that is very helpful when planning a trip. Other than that I can't think of too many other changes for the Forum section.

I also find your website very helpful for ideas - can't propose too many changes other than I have had some issues with some of the links on the Irelaand Guide page. Other than that I will say your website is my go-to page when I have a question about Ireland.

Good luck!

Pic, Thanks for your feedback. I know some of the links are not working. My old web builder is obsolete now and I am going with another one for the project. Have to keep up with technology...much as we hate to sometimes. wink

Hello, I would like to see newer reviews on subjects. 2010 reviews is kinda old for me.
More of the 2014 and 2015 info is what I would like to see. (or someway to to update the info stating information is still accurate)
If I wanted to order your book, it does not say the latest revision date???
Was interested in the Genealogy by your husband...there is no further information in regard to his services. Does he have a website? There are no posts to that forum subject in 2013? Is it a dead subject?
What site has info for genealogy in northern Ireland?
Marlette

Thanks for your feedback Marlette. My book comes out once a year usually in March. This page of my website mentions it http://www.irelandyes.com/paypal.html however, I will add it to other pages also. I have added a new Review section to the forum just the other day so everyone will have an opportunity to share their favorites there.

My husband does not do genealogy. Perhaps you read a forum post by someone else whose husband does do it? Go to my Links page for info on genealogy in Northern Ireland.

Hope that helps you get started. Let us know if you have any questions as your planning proceeds.
