Hi Michele,

i have forgotten the name of the site where you can plan your routes for driving in Ireland.  Can you refresh my memory?

People swear by AA which uses Google which I still use despite my hatred for their new maps.  This site is a good option which gives sites along the way http://www.mydiscoverireland.com/  Map Quest is more like old Google maps but with some locations missing.

Whichever routefinder you use will give fairly accurate distances but the timing can never be right.  just take the mileage and work on 30/35 mph sightseeing and 40mph point to point direct. anything better is a bonus.

I had to go to a regular Galway appointment this morning so allowed 1 1/2 hours. Traffic was clear and lights/junctions/roundabouts in my favour, .

Distance 43 miles,

Time given by routefinder 1 hr 3 min.

Total time taken: 1 hour going  ....  1 hour 20 minutes coming home.

The thing I like about Google is that it allows you to 'Click' on the route and 'Drag' it through another town, where AA makes you use the 'Via' function to add any changes.
