Kylemore Abbey

Michele,

Do you know if you must pay the 13 euro charge if you just want to visit the mini cathedral at Kylemore?  I've been before and don't think the charge is worth it for the house interior and gardens a second time.  I would of course be happy to donate a smaller amount at the church and shop at the store.

You pay to get through the gate into the grounds so the answer is unfortunately a yes.

That is a bummer. Well, I will look at it as a church donation rather than entrance fee. I know it's a costly place to maintain.

I have said many times that if Kylmore reduced its entrance even to a round 10 quite a few of those who make the car park might also make it through the gate. My great Grand Uncle was a mason on the Gothic Church, being taken over by WH after his work on the restoration of All Saints Church in Youlgrave.
