Logan Airport Changes

For those that dislike Terminal E in Logan Airport (and what's not to dislike really) there is what could be a positive change starting this May.  I just got notified by text from Aer Lingus that as of May 2nd Aer Lingus flights are going out of the newly refurbished Terminal C in Logan.  It is a much nicer terminal especially in terms of the number of restaurants and shops that there are.  I'm flying out of Logan next Monday to Shannon so I'll report back when I get home on this.  I admit I am happy about this change as Terminal E has been getting more congested the last few years.

I'm wondering if you will still need to go through security with the new gate changes at Logan when flying in from the West Coast on Alaska Airlines?  Any new information would be appreciated!

regards

Dan

With all the TSA problems and long lines, air travel is getting more complicated for sure!

We have heard about long lines at SEA, and other large airports, but nothing about Logan.

Would you care to make a report after your trip?

Regards

Dan

The Logan terminal map shows that Aer Lingus and Alaska use the same terminal "C"! That would be good news for our Sept trip so hope that information is accurate, Since we are not booked straight through and are using 2 bookings with a scheduled 3 hour layover. Murphy's law suggests that one should not do it that way!

The questions is whether or not you have to check in with Aer Lingus in Logan or you can do it from your initial airport. I don't know if Alaska is an Aer Lingus partner or not. But either way it's good that you're flying in and out of Terminal C. That will make things a bit easier for sure.

I will report on how it goes at Logan for me on Monday. I am guessing that there will not be very long security lines at Terminal C in the late afternoon. My experience flying out of that Terminal is that the long security lines are during the morning and it slows down in the afternoon. But we'll see.

Very excited about my trip on Monday. I'll be in Connemara by Tuesday morning and it looks like it will most likely be a nice day. Can't wait!

Thanks all. I really can't ask for a much better weather forecast. It's looking really good for next week.

Just went through Logan Terminal C today and it was a snap. No line at all at Aer Lingus check in (although we were 3 hours before flight). Security line was medium length but very efficient. They are well staffed with plenty of scanner lines. It took about 10-15 minutes. It's busy around the gates but not overcrowded with more shops and restaurants than at Terminal E. Overall is say an improvement over Terminal E.

Thanks for the update!  Have a great time in Ireland and tip a pint or two for me!

Did you happen to notice if Alaska Airlines was also using terminal "C"?

regards

Dan

The weather has been amazing. We've encountered three quick passing showers but the rest has been a mix of sun and clouds and warm. The next three days including today will be sunny and 70 degrees. It's like hitting the jackpot.
