Easter in Killarney

It's getting closer to our trip, only 28 days until we fly out biggrin! Super exciting!!! We will be staying near Killarney over Easter and I was wondering if anyone knows of any fun Easter stuff to do for the kids that weekend or day? Normally we'd find some local events to go too or have a big family thing. Egg hunt, games or any churches doing fun kid stuff maybe? I tried to find a local event calendar but didn't see anything about Easter confuse. If we can't find anything, I'll plan a picnic or something like that but was just wanting to see if I was missing something.

Thanks,

Ivy

You might check this Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/DestinationKillarney/

Be aware that Easter is a Four day event in Ireland -- Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday -- so, your activities might be limited slightly.

If they are operating (and the weather cooperates, the Gap of Dunloe Tour has proven VERY popular with ALL our grandchildren.  biggrin  biggrin

Sunday all I had on my itinerary was Muckross house, the national park and a few things in town. Monday we had planned to go to Kinsale. I'll have to see whats open...

Do you have your reservations? It can be busy over that holiday and spring break in Ireland. You might be interested in Sunday lunch and egg hunt: http://www.thebrehon.com/en/easter-sunday/

Yes everything is booked we are staying in Glenbeigh from the 30th until the 5th. I like the idea of driving down to Kenmare for the egg hunt. We had planned that for one of the days so I can switch my itinerary to go there on Easter instead. Thanks for the links!

If you are basing in Glenbeigh, be sure to check out the nearby Kerry Bog Village   http://www.kerrybogvillage.ie/  -- Our granddaughters loved seeing the animals.  The beach at Rossbeigh is WELL worth a visit -- particularly, BEFORE the Irish Government allows it's pristine beauty to be destroyed:

If you should happen to stumble across a local musician named Ciaran Wynne, be sure to give him a 'Happy Belated Birthday' greeting!  You can tell him Bob sent you!  biggrin  biggrin

Thanks Bob, they are definitely on our list of things to do. I will keep on the look out for Ciaran and tell him biggrin. We are super excited to explore the area. I'll post my final itinerary soon (although I'm sure we will make plenty of changes to it when we are there depending on how everyone is doing lol).

OMG! Ivy, you are right!

There is usually an egg hunt at Reenagross Park in Kenmare. I suggest you contact the Park Hotel for info: http://www.parkkenmare.com/easter/

There also seems to be an event in Killarney at Muckross Traditional Farms: http://www.muckross-house.ie/muckross/muckross-events/easter-sunday-muckross-traditional-farms/

Kennedy's Pet Farm (near Killarney). This one sounds really fun for the kids: https://www.facebook.com/Kennedys-Pet-Farm-197204316974512/ & http://kennedyspetfarm.com/

I suggest you contact the various venues to confirm.

Thank you both for the great links! It looks like we have lots of good choices for Easter now. The pet farm looks really fun! I contacted a few to get more details. :) Very excited to be there soon!
