The Great Blasket and Dingle Accommodations

Hi all! Still working on our September/October itinerary...does anyone have any opinion on taking the boat trip over to the Great Blasket off of Dingle? Will the weather in the fall make it to wet and cold for an enjoyable trip? (Assuming the boats are still running at that time). Is there any shelter on the island in case the weather IS bad? (and are bathrooms available?)

Also looking for a reasonable priced B&B or hotel on Dingle. Self catering would be ok, too. Favorites? We'll likely be there three nights and want to be close to Trad music sessions as we will likely play until the wee hours of the morning. :)

Thanks for any help you can give us! :)

The Great Blasket boat tour runs until 1 October.  Prior to that, it can be weather-dependent, but if you are flexible with your three days, you SHOULD be able to make the trip.

September / October weather can be a dice-throw.  The past year, our visit was during the same time period and the weather ran the full gamut from bright, sunny (warm-ish) days, to dreary, blustery and wet -- although mostly decent, over-all.

We tend to stay a bit away from town center when we stay.  A personal favorite:   https://towerviewdingle.com/      but there are a number of excellent B&B options closer in.

There is a coffee shop and self-catering rentals available on Great Blasket. Weather - as always - is unpredictable. It can be decent in Sept. One of the original cottages has been restored by the OPW and is now open to the public.

Lodgings to recommend in Dingle walking distance to town:

Tower View

Greenmount

Dunlavin House

Emlagh Lodge

Pax House

Right in town is Benners Hotel and Dingle Bay Hotel.

Thank you so much, for all for your great suggestions and information about the Blasket. This has been on my bucket list since my first trip to Ireland and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can make it work this time around!

Hope that helps. Let us know what you decide when you get back. Only a few months to wait! biggrin
