found an extra night

Due to some family traveling to England, we have found ourselves with an extra night on 23 July, a Monday. We've decided to spend the night in Cong. We have done a day trip there previously, but never an overnight. I'm looking for lodging recommendations, in town.

As always, thank you!

Roy

Ryans and Lydons have both caught my eye.

Roy -- Like you, I've NOT ever over-knighted in Cong.  Is it safe to assume that Ashford Castle doesn't make the Budget Cut?

In addition to Lydon's, there are TWO Ryan's in the town center:  Ryans Riverlodge:  http://www.ryansriverlodge.com/welcome.html     and Ryans Hotel:  http://www.ryanshotelcong.ie/

There's also an intriguing Self-cater close by, but that doesn't meet your needs for this trip:  http://www.thecosyloft.com/index.htm

Ashford Castle does not meet this teachers budget. The hotels in town, however, do.

Yar -- Ashford's too pricey for this retired postal worker, too!  aww   aww

The two you are looking at both LOOK good, to me -- but, I've NOT visited either, so I can't really make any informed recommendation.

No availability. Thank you for the suggestion.

Im constantly amazed by people who want to wing it with concern to accommodations in the high season.

Looks like there are two good choices, I was hoping someone had some personal experience with them. Maybe a coin toss?

Sorry, I have no personal experience of either. I guess it will be a coin toss.
