We booked our tickets tonight for September 16-28! Eleven days on the ground. Now to find car, B&Bs, everything else!
Be prepared for loads of questions and requests for help. Though this is my fourth trip, I can't do it without y'all. We are three sisters, 51 through 61, and we plan to not do the Green Blur as we did last trip. Perhaps three bases for exploration in eleven days. We'll see.
Just had to share my excitement with people who understand!
Way to go! I am very excited for you. Now the fun part starts -- the planning. Glad to hear you will avoid the Green Blur and take time to smell the shamrocks.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. I am so glad to hear that you will not be doing Ireland in a blur this time. As Michele says take time to smell the shamrocks. I will add: and slowly sip the Jameson

Okay, two of us are confirmed; the third just went haring off to check on a new granddaughter about to be born. But we won't let her forget what's REALLY important--having seats together on the plane!
I am looking at 3 days Ennis area, three days Kenmare, three days Dingle, one night Ballyseede Castle, Tralee, then Shannonside for our last night. Or we could just spend the first day close to Shannon then head south to spend four days in Kenmare and four in Dingle. But then I think about Donegal country...
So much green country, so little time...
Cowboy, I think you weren't with us when I explained my "handle." When I began to speak, as a child (about the day I was born, according to my family) I couldn't say the "J" sound so told people my name was Duder Dones, Okie. (that's a long O in Dones; maiden name is Jones). So my mum called me Dude all my life. In real life I am a sixty year old former girl.
The handles we are given in childhood seem to stay with us, don't they? Former girl? You seem to be still a girl at heart and that, my dear, is all that matters. I was given the handle of "lilbit" by my grandfather. I was four and had come out to "help" with the roundup. They sure found a lot of work for me to do and my Grandfather commented that I was a "lilbit with a lot of try". It served me well when I was riding broncs. It serves me well onstage now.
There really is so much green that you want to go in all directions. I all always start the planning of the next journey by writing down in a column all the places I wish I had seen as they pop into my head. I grab the top ten and see what area of Ireland I will be exploring. It has worked out well, so far. You have a great southwest/central trip outlined. It will be grand fun!
