Bunratty

Good evening, all:

I need a bit of advice...I spoke with Mary from Bunratty Lodge today, and confirmed my reservation for our last night in Ireland.  We want to do the Bunratty banquet, and she is going to book it for us, but we are undecided about which would be more fun...the banquet in the castle or the ceili in the corn barn.  It will be me (I am up for anything) and my 2 daughters, 19 and 24.  Any suggestions will be much appreciated!  My 19 year old is a dancer, and mentioned that she would like to see some Irish dancing.

WOW!  Talking with Mary today (she is actually in Florida "on vacation from the grey") made this trip seem even more real.  Thanks, Michele, for the recommendation.  She was lovely on the phone.  I can't wait to meet some of these wonderful folks.

Marie

Marie:

so you talked with Mary from Bunratty Lodge?  I've been trying to reach her via her email to book a few rooms this summer.  Does she mention when she'll be returning to ol' Ireland????

Marie,

If it is dancing you want then I recommend the Bunratty Irish Night in the corn barn.

Irish 57,

Mary shoud be back answering her emails by Feb 10. Her access to email in Florida is fitful.

GReat!  Thanks Michele!  I'm starting to get nervous about no replies to my emails.  We'll be going at the end of July which is during high season.  Wanted to firm up my reservations.  I'll wait for Mary to return! :)

Irish 57,

At this time of year many B&Bs close and their owners go on vacation. When you consider that it is a 24/7 job for 9 months out of the year you will realize that these folks need time to recharge and relax before facing another busy season. Be patient, don't expect immdiate email replies from B&Bs and guesthouses, send another email every few weeks. You will eventually get replies. Some places will be worth waiting for!

thanks for the advice. I'll be more patient.  Actually Mary did email me from Florida and suggested I call her this weekend to reserve.

Irish 57,

If you are doing a banquet or Irish night be sure to tell Mary and she will make your reservations for you.
