Day trips from Dingle

We are visiting Ireland in March and staying in Dingle. We fly into and out of Cork (our last night we are staying in a hotel by the airpot per your rec.).  We We have 3 full days in Dingle.  I figured 1 day we would make the drive around the peninsula and enjoy the sites.  The other 2 days we are planning on making day trips a bit further away.  I want her to get at good taste of Ireland so she will want to come back the next year.  Any suggestions what 2 locations would have good wow factor?  I was looking at Killarney for a day and the Cliffs of Moher for another.  Also, we will be in Dingle for St. Patrick's day but have a reservation that night by Cork airport (where we fly out the next morning).  Any idea how the traffic is on the roads St. Patrick's day?

James,

I don't know what sorts of activities you enjoy, but you may find plenty to do in Dingle. How about horseback riding on the beach? Climbing Mount Brandon? Diving with a dolphin?

Killarney is lovely and there is much to see and do in that area. The Cliffs of Moher are a bit far to go in one day. The Gap of Dunloe is an all day tour that may wow her.

Traffic will depend on time of day but if the parades are over by the time you get on the road you should be fine.

James,

In planning your departure from Dingle, and if staying around Dingle Town, remember that there are two parades on St. Patrick's Day. One in teh early morning and one in the early afternoon.

Thanks guys! I am so excited!  We are going today to buy new walking shoes (we are from Florida, so we wear flip flops every day!). I really appreciate the input.

James,

Try to break the shoes in before your trip. Do let us know how your trip goes when you get back!

Just to dispel any false assumptions: Not everyone who lives in Florida wears flip-flops daily ... Most of us actually wear shoes.

baja,

Thanks for dispelling the rumors. Actually, I lived in Miami for 28 years and went barefooted as a child, wore flip flops, shoes, sandals and everything in between.
