Conversion of a 20 pound central bank of ireland note to US dollars?

I would like to exchange my 20 pound central bank of ireland note (paper bill) for US dollars.  The airport exchange said I have to send to Irleland to exchange?

Could you please advise?

Bill,

Welcome to the forum. Now that Ireland is on the euro as I understand it there is only one bank in Dublin that will exchange your old 20 pound note. So the info you received is correct. I don't know that I would trust it to the mail. Are you planning a trip to Dublin any time soon? Maybe you can sell it on Ebay. Or perhaps a forum member will buy it from you.
