Bringing a wedding cake to Ireland????

I am getting married in Ireland in the Summer and a friend from the USA is making my wedding cake. She is freezing the cake and hoping to take it over and ice it here. Does anyone know what the procedure with Customs is? Will they allow a cake to come in?

Dearg,

Congratulations on getting married in Ireland. Although you can bring baked goods into Ireland I don't know if it is a good idea to bring such a delicate thing as a wedding cake in your luggage. It might be broken to bits by the time it arrives.

Ireland has wonderful bakeries. Perhaps you should order a wedding cake from one of them and let your friend relax and enjoy the wedding.
