Ballycotton

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has ever visited Ballycotton?  My husband was watching a TV special on Ireland, and it showed the lighthouse in Ballycotton.  Now he wants to add the town to our itinerary.  Does anyone know if you can actually get out to the lighthouse?  I also found a website that talks about the CliffWalk.  Has anyone walked this?

How much time do you think you would need to due justice to Ballycotton?  We will be there late May if that helps.

Thanks!

Carrie

Carrie,

Ballycotton is a very small off-the-beaten-path place (mostly lovely coastline) in Co. Cork between Youghal and Middleton. I haven't done the clliff walk. The lighthouse is on an island and not open to visitors. If you want to visit a lighthouse in Ireland I suggest Hook Head.

How long to spend there? Depends on what you want to do. You can drive through it in a matter of minutes or you can do the cliff walk, fishing, etc. and spend many hours there. It all depends on your interests.
