If we have a day to drive the northern coast, do we have time to see the Causeway and walk the Rope Bridge (unless we chicken out), go see the Dark Hedges and do the Torr Head Road? I realize that it all depends on how much time we spend at each spot, but is it totally unreasonable?
Would we just follow the coast road from Limavady to Cushendun and then retrace our steps, detouring for Armoy, or would we head straight east from Limavady through Armoy, see the Hedges and do the Torr Drive and then follow the coast back around?
Or should I just ask Patricia at Ballycarton House?
This is what I would do. Go from Limavady to Coleraine, then north to Portrush. Follow the coast east and do Dunluce Castle, Giant's Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede. The rest is scenery so only the night closes them. See what time it is and when sunset will be. You will need a couple more hours to do Torr Road and the Dark Hedges. From Cushendun there are minor roads that cut inland throuh the Antrim Hills over to Armoy. Ask in town for the correct route. From Armoy go to Ballymoney, from which you can take the B66 west to Limavady.
Michele, somehow your reply got lost. I often check this site at home and at work so have to remember where I left off, and as a Senior Member I frequently have Senior Moments.
Sorry to be so late in thanking you. Looking at the map that all makes perfect sense. Nice to know about the roads from Cushendun to Armoy because they aren't on any maps I have. We'll get the ordnance map in Shannon.
All else being equal, I think we'll do this on Saturday and the Inishown Peninsula on Sunday. But part of the fun is seeing what presents itself when we get there.
Glad to help. My Atlas has all the small roads on it and is a big help when planning routes. I did the drive from Glenariff inland to Armoy myself in October. Not much there but farms. But really no traffic and smooth sailing.
