B&B in Howth

During the second week of our July holiday, we will be staying in Co. Westmeath with my mother-in-law (yikes!). We are thinking of doing two days in Dublin instead of a day trip and I am asking for B&B recommendations in Howth.

Thank you,

Roy

Roy,

I've read about King Sitric's in Irelands Blue Book. It looks very nice, in fact I'd booked rooms a few years back and didn't get to make the trip. I also remember something about the walking path running up behind it.

Roy,

I actually prefer Malahide to Howth. Look at the link for Beechwood Country House on my "Lodgings" page. It is wonderful and near Malahide. I don't have any personal recommendations in Howth, however, like Joan I have heard good things about King Sitric.

My wife once lived in Howth when she worked in Dublin during her younger days prior to coming to the states and really wants to stay there. She has a friend who lives there still.

We are considering Gleann-na-Smol B&B. it's nicely located and the reviews I found on it are good. Additionally, they are members of Bord Failte, Family Homes of Ireland and Fingal Tourism.

Roy,

That sounds like a great little place. I looked on Trip Advisor for King Sitric and not all the reviews here good. I remember yours did get good reviews. Happy you found what you needed.

RE: B&B in Howth

Joan,

It's reasonably priced too at 37 euro per person for a double room. We will be taking the train from Co. Westmeath to Dublin, take the Dart train to Howth in the evening, and back to Dublin then Co. Westmeath the next evening. It will give us two days in Dublin.

Roy,

You will have to let us know how the Howth B&B works out for you and what you thought of it when you get back. Of course you must stay there since your wife once lived there. She will want to show you around. Is your wife Irish?

Michele,

My wife is very Irish. She grew up in Co. Westmeath, and moved to work in Dublin when she was eighteen. My wife moved to the states in 1986. We met in 2000, and married in 2005 (second for both). Of my wife and her six siblings, she has a brother and one sister still in Ireland. There are five of them here, including my wife.
