Doolin

Hi everyone:

I emailed Cullinan's Guesthouse in Doolin about reservations for two nights, thinking we would go out to the Aran Islands one of the days.  I didn't hear back from them but I did hear from Hillcrest View House in Kilrush who offered me a room for those two nights.

Is it common for one B&B to forward requests to another?  If we stayed in Kilrush would we be close enough to the Aran ferry to go out there for the day?

One of the reasons I wanted Doolin was for the pubs and music at night.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much,  Kris

Kris,

If the other B&B is well known to the first, sometimes the request is passed. Have you checked with other B&Bs in Doolin? It is a small town but has plenty of B&Bs. Also, what time of year are you heading there? Doolin can be quite crowded in the high season, July-September. Your other o[tion is to stay a night on Inis Oirr or Inis Mor, as both islands are on the Ferry route.

Slan Beo,

Bit Devine

Actually, we're going this June.  Do you have another B&B in Doolin to recommend?

Thanks

I have enjoyed my stays at the Doolin Activity Lodge. There is also Sea View House, Dubhlinn House, Atlantic Sunset House and Horseshoe House. Of those, Atlantic Sunset isn't in Doolin proper but on the approach from Lisdoonvarna. Friends of mine have stayed at Lane Lodge and said that hey enjoyed their stay. They said it was comfortable, clean and well situated to the ferry and Fisher street shops and pubs.

That should give you a few to check out.

Slan Beo,

Also try the Atlantic View: http://www.doolinferries.com/atlanticview.html The rooms have a view of the cliffs or the islands and one or two have both!

We are staying in Doolin at Daly's House (www.dalys-house.com) next week on Tuesday night.  I will post on our return how that goes, but it has fabulous reviews.

We went to Sea View when we were there a few years ago and it was one of the nicest and most beautiful we were in that trip.

I can recommend Dubhlinn House. It is in Doolin and within walking distance to all three pubs. Joan and Martin Reilly were wonderful hosts.

Kris,

Besides the others already mentioned, try O'Connor's Farmhouse, Nellie Dee's, Hotel Doolin. You would be better off staying in either Doolin or Galway for the Aran Island day trip.

Daly's House, as per above posting, is quite nice, great location, and a friendly owner.  Is difficult to do better than this place.

Kris,

I'm glad you found a B&B in Doolin. We will wait to hear how you liked it when you return.

Perhaps I'm a bit confused, but it seems to me that there are two Atlantic View B&B's in or near Doolin?

http://accommodation-cliffs-of-moher.com/

http://www.doolinferries.com/atlanticview.html

The first link I included is a guesthouse run my Mary White, and apparently it's 3 miles from Doolin town center, but has great views of the sea. This is the one I booked when I was recommended the Atlantic View in Doolin.... mistake? Or are the two sites for the same house?

See... I told you I was confused.

You are not confused, though it would be easy to be. There are indeed two Atlantic View B&Bs one has its address in Liscannor, closer to the Cliffs and the Other, ran by Eileen O"Brien, is a Doolin B&B. To make it even more confusing, there is an Atlantic View B&B in Salthill just outside of Galway.

Mary White runs the one in Liscannor. Hers is a lovely B&B and well suited to catching the ferry over to Inis Mor. However, if you were hoping to book some place in Doolin so as to be able to enjoy a pub night, this would not be the best suited for that endeavour.
