Well Keith and I got home last night from a wonderful 2 weeks in Ireland. I will be posting a trip report sometime in the not too distant future.
I did want to mention that the Slea Head drive is moving along just fine. The detour is great (better than many NM roads). If it weren't for the signs and barricades over the old part of the road, you would never know that there is a detour!
Their weather has been unusually great. In two weeks we only encountered rain three times and never more than an hour or so. The temperature was running 72-80 F while we were there. For anyone who is going for the first time, they don't have air conditioning or ceiling fans! We tended to be rather warm, but the trip was well worth the discomfort!
Michelle - your lodging recomendations were absolutely fabulous! Brigid, Elizabeth and Mary all say "hi". Jimmy Bruic said he hasn't seen you for a couple of years and it's about time again! Of all the places we stayed I must admit that Coill an Rois, on the Dingle Peninsula, with Jimmy Bruic was the highlight of or trip. Jimmy is a trained Pastry Chef and Keith is a Chef and teaches Culinary Arts. Jimmy treated us like royalty with fresh baked pastries each morning and evening. As we were his only guests at the time, he took time to just sit and talk with us. We spent a lot of time in the evenings having tea and great conversation with him and his good friend from next door.
Hi Wendy, Glad you had a great time. I hope you make it to the festival next week so I can hear more about it. Will look forward to reading your trip report. Jeanne
