Since I am doing a tour, and I already have a Frommer's Ireland 2007 book which I am trying to read, I was wondering if Michelle's book would also be good to add for my research before my trip next month. Even though I am going on a tour, I like to know as much on the places I go and where I will be staying.
I am wondering since we have a few days in Ireland before the tour. I am thinking we will spend those extra days in Dublin (See what we will not see on the tour) and explore Maynooth since it sounds like a nice little town!
Also, how many pages is the book?
Michelle- if you read this question, I saw you are from Georiga- So am I!!!!! I came across this website by "chance". (Even though I believe there is really no such thing)
Since you are going on a tour I think you will be fine with the Frommer's book. If you decide to visit Ireland again on your own, then you can order the latest edition of my book. Meanwhile, you can get any info you need here on the forum.
I don't know if you caught it on another thread, but I had a great idea with condensing your book. It has probably been mentioned before. I took out the Counties we shall be visiting, and rebound them with a ringlet binder Ed brought home from work. It is working well for me, as I usually bring some reference books with me (re ancient sites), and now we have to watch the weight of our luggage so closely.
P.S. Did you receive my e-mail concerning Highfield House? Our computer has been acting up lately, and I don't see it in "sent mail". Thanks.
I did see your tip about condensing my book on another post but lost it before I replied. You can also take it to Kinkos or any copy center and have them put on a smaller binding for a couple of dollars. It is a great tip for those traveling light.
I did email you about Highfield. I think you should change your reservations if at all possible.Check your "junk mail" folder to see if my reply is there.
I didn't receive your e-mail, not in the junk mail, either. Would you take some of your precious time and try again? hlearyo@comcast.net. I am trying other B&Bs, this time in Navan.
I just replied to your email address provided. Let me know if you want me to edit your reply to remove it now (I hate to think it would be harvested for junk mail). Try Athlumney Manor in Navan: http://www.athlumneymanor.com/ It is not fancy and some of the rooms and bathrooms are very small. But it is clean and neat and the owner seemed nice. You may want to request one of the larger room if staying. It is not a "purpose built" B&B but an older one that has been re-done, hence the small bathrooms. I also stopped by Cranmore House outside Trim. Although no one was at home I couldn't fail to see one of the rooms as I was walking to the door. The glimpse looked nice but I was not inside. Trim Castle Hotel is new and very modern. The rooms were very clean and everything looked nice.
