Do these directions make sense?

Hi Michele,

I copied and pasted the directions below to Birchwood B&B from their website.  Do they make sense to you?  I can't find any map that shows the R741 intersecting with the N11.  I've emailed the owner, but no reply.

"Arriving from Gorey on the R741 Turn right on to N11/Enniscorthy Road. Take 2nd turn Right (50yds Apart) in front of Freddie's Shop & Post Office. Birchwood House 400 metres."

Thanks.  Just one more week until I leave!

Ande

Ande,

I am not familiar with Birchwood. However, many times directions don't make sense till you are there. It may be that the N11 is signposted from Castlebridge and that is where you turn. As I look at my atlas I see the two roads connected by small country roads. It seems that Birchwood is not far from the post office so if you have trouble finding it you can ask there or phone the B&B. Don't be overly worried about finding the various B&Bs. The directions usually work.

Michele

Thanks Michele. Directions this year are less precise than my previous trips for the various b&bs. If I get lost, I'll just make that part of the adventure.

Thanks again.

OK, here's what I found and what I THINK it means:

From the website:
http://www.travel-library.com/b&b/europe/ireland/wexford/birchwood_house.html

LOCATION & AREA
We are 5klm from the Historic Town of Wexford, 500 mtrs to Castlebridge Village with its Restaurants & Traditional Pubs.

Village ameneties including a supermarket, petrol pumps pottery, barber/beauty salon & much more.

"Curracloe Beach Blue Flag is a 10 minute drive from Birchwood. The East Coast of Ireland including Wexford are full of clean sandy beaches some Blue & Green Flag. Curracloe Beach is where the film "Saving Private Ryan" was filmed & its pine forest- Ravens Point is ideal for long walks.

Directions:
From Gorey take the R741 to Castlebridge. From Wexford take R741 over Wexford bridge to Castlebridge.
Turn on to N11/Enniscorthy Road, 2nd turn Right (just 50 yds apart) infront of Freddies Shop & Post Office. Birchwood is 400 yds on left.
From Enniscorthy Take the N11 and pass through Oilgate, turn left for Crossabeg & Castlebridge. On arrival to the Village locate "Bloom & Veg" Shop, turn left -pass Freddies Shop and Post Office, Birchwood is 400 yards on the left.

I forget where you are coming from, and surely, the instructions most certainly could have been better written, but the B&B is in the village of Castlebridge.  The directions involving the R741 and the N11 are to get to Castlebridge.

See the zoomable (somewhat) map:
