Ever see a concert at Malahide Castle?????

Hello All:

I just stumbled upon the possibility of seeing Joe ****er and Al Green at Malahide Castle on July 1, 2007.  Looks quite pricey, but I was thinking that would be a fun thing to do before these two are no longer around, and it seems it may be at a very interesting venue.

I have a question and would like to ask your recommendation.  My plan so far, it to arrive about midnight 6/27 and taxi to B & B in Howth where we will base for 5 nights
6/28 bus/train whatever to Dublin- night time do Steve Ricks Pub Crawl
6/29 Fri pickup car at airport and drive to Newgrange/ Trim Castle/ Tara
6/30 Sat drive to Glendalough/Powerscourt
7/1   explore Howth during day and then make our way to concert at Malahide Castle for 5:00 pm show.

Is it feasible to think of picking up car at airport on Fri and still making it to Newgrange to get in and see Trim and Tara?  Or would Glendalough/Powerscourt be the better course for the day we pick up the car at the airport?

Has anyone seen a concert at Malahide Castle?  Does this sound like a special thing to do?  For two folks it's about $200 through my favorite fee slammer ticket master.  But I thought it would be a neat way to see the Castle and enjoy  two great musicians at the same time.

Any thoughts on the above itinerary would be most appreciated.  And thank you Cowboy and Michele for your generous help so far.

Two days to go and I'm so excited and SO not ready. I understand the weather to in the mid sixties most days from reading online.

I see the weather is mostly in the sixties with rain. Will long pants/jeans tennis shoes, short sleeve shirts and sweater do for these next two weeks? Are shorts ever needed end of June beginning of July?

Jurnei,

DART goes from Howth to Dublin. It will be very convenient for you going into the city center. (Although I prefer Malahide to Howth). I have never attended a concert at Malahide Castle but it sounds like fun. You will want to find out if it is outside and dress appropriately. I know that the ones that take place a Slane Castle are outside and those without preferred seating sit on the ground.

Since you need to be back by 5 pm for the concert, you are probably better off doing Newgrange, Trim and Tara on the day of the concert. However, if you find yourself running short of time skip one of them.

As for packing, do take a look at my "Packing" page. You will want to add a lightweight waterproof, hooded windbreaker to your list.

It sounds like a fun itinerary.
