Hotel near Shannon Airport?

Hello! My fiancee and I are spending 2 weeks in Ireland for our honeymoon in November. We are flying home out of Shannon and I am looking for a suggestion of a nice but not terribly expensive hotel near the Shannon Airport as we have a morning flight out of SNN. I had looked at the Shannon Great Southern (now Park Inn) but have read some dismal reviews and was hoping for some other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Plenty of good B&Bs down the road that runs between Durty Nelly's and the Bunratty Castle. You can take your pick from a number of places there and be just minutes from the airport.

Anne,

If it must be a hotel take a look at Bunratty Castle Hotel and Bunratty Manor. The Radisson a few miles down the road toward Limerick is also nice.

If you can stay at a B&B instead I would suggest Bunratty Lodge and booking the queen room with the four poster bed wilth lacy canopy. I have a link to them on my "Lodgings" page. It is only a 10-15 minute drive to Shannon Airport from there.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will check them out. I am not picky about hotel vs. B&B ...I've just found in our trip planning that several B&Bs are closed in mid-November. Thanks again, I have found a lot of good info on your site!

Anne,

In mid-November Bunratty Lodge could be closed. But send an email to see for sure. Other places I would recommend are Headley Court and the Courtyard, both in Bunratty.

I also suggest Ashgrove House in Bunratty. I stayed there for 2 nights a few years back. It was like spending the night at a close family member's house. Breakfasts are great, also.

Bunratty is only 10 minutes, by car, to Shannon Airport.

Another comment for the Ashgrove House.  Stayed there in March and the people were wonderful and the breakfast huge and tasty.biggrin
