Staying Out of Dublin - First Time Traveler

This will be my first trip to Ireland.  My husband and I will be flying into Shannon, spending one night there, then 2 nights in Castlebar.  From Castlebar we will be going to the Green Isle Hotel (near Dublin) for 2 nights. weirdface  Is there anyway we can travel there by car without having to get into the big City of Dublin?  My husband will be driving and is not at all accustomed to driving on the left or in a big city.  Many thanks, Ann

Ann,

Welcome to my forum! The Green Isle Hotel is outside Dublin City on the N7 near the M50.You certainly do not have to go into the city to arrive at this hotel. Since you will be coming from Castlebar you will be on the N4. Just take the M50 motorway south to the N7. According to their website they have a free car park for hotel guests. The hotel will be able to advise you on how to get into the city by public transport.

Ann,

I would recommend either the Michelin map of Ireland or the Ordnance Survey Atlas. Both are available at the airport shops and tourist office at the airport on arrival.
