Taking Cheese

Michelle,
We are from Canada, travelling to Ireland.  We would like to take some Canadian cheese as a gift.  Do you know if we can legally take cheese from Canada to Ireland.

Thanks

Cdngolfer,

There are currently stricter rules on animal products being imported into Ireland because of another foot and mouth outbreak in England. They are trying to keep the problem from spreading to Ireland. I am not quite sure about cheese at the moment but if it were me I would choose another gift.

Michele

This is the latest on that situation, Michele

The outbreak is a limited one as it came from the drains of a nearby animal research lab.....

Pity re the cheese; I hear Canadian cheese is very good; but there are great restrictions on the Canadian side also. It is something my Sisters would love to send me but they are not allowed by Canada Post.
