This B&B is in the area we want to stay in between Kinsale and Dublin Airport, but the website isn't exactly super informative and I can't find reviews anywhere. Just wondering if anyone knows anything else about it, or other nice (30-35 euro/pps) B&Bs in the area, walking distance to village restaurants/pubs.
Will be leaving Kinsale in the morning, want to stop at Rock of Cashel and drive by Kilkea Castle, then stay at Tall Trees or find B&B approx. 1.5 hours from Dublin Airport to drop the car the next day before heading to the city. Thanks!
I can recommend Ivyleigh House right in Portlaoise, which is near Stradbally. The guesthouse is walking distance to everything in town. It is a bit more than you want to pay but is very elegant with a lovely breakfast.
Thanks for the reco, Michele. Ivyleigh did come up in my search, but the cost is almost twice my budget for that night, so it didn't make the short list. However, I have not yet decided on all overnight stays and if others in the early part of the trip are less than expected, we might be able to up the budget for the end of the trip.
And if not, well, I might just be the first to be able to offer a review of Tall Trees B&B. I will say that I have already booked Emlagh Lodge and am very excited about it.
When we are in Westport, we are planning on a drive to/through Achill Island, I know you mentioned Bervie House (?) before, we will not be staying there, however is it a place where we can stop and have some tea and scones? Or is there somewhere nearby we could stop for refreshments/talks with locals?
You can stop into the Bervie for tea and scones. They serve them in their restaurant even if you are not staying there. You could also stop at Achill Cliff House Hotel.
