Connemara and down the road

Can you give me a suggestion for a place to spend 2 nights in Connemara?  Also I plan to travel from there to spend 2 nights in Donegal Co. to see Inishowen Peninsula and surrounding areas.  Would I need to spend one night on the road from Connemara to Inishowen Peninsula area to keep from having to make such a long drive at one time and if so, could you suggest a place?  Also looking for a place for a 2 night stay in the Inishowen Peninsula area.

Thanks

noshot9,

It really depends on what you want. I like both Clifden and Roundstone for different reasons. Clifden is larger and hence has more B&Bs, restaurants, pubs, etc. Roundstone is a cute little fishing village with beautiful views of the water but is a bit more off the beaten path. Although not officially in Connemara Westport is nearby and makes a good base. Tell me what you want to do and see and I will be able to help you choose one.

I don't have any personal recommendations of places to stay on the Inishowen Peninsula. However, Letterkenny would be a good base for doing a day trip there. You could drive from Connemara to Letterkenny in one day on the main roads. If you want to make a lot of sightseeing stops along the way you might consider overnighting somewhere en route.

Don't forget to look at my "Lodgings" page for suggested B&Bs, etc.

Thanks on Connemara.  I think any of those places would work for us.  We plan to make sightseeing stops from Connemare to Letterkenny so any suggestions on where to overnight along the way?

noshot9,

Depending on what you plan on seeing on your drive, you might consider Sligo.
