Dance and Music Festival

Hello Michele,  Have you heard anything about a traditional dance and music festival that take place in Ireland around the first part of the year (Jan. or Feb.)? I remember reading about it possibly in the Irish Times, but I don't remember the details. Any info. will be appreciated. Thanks, Florida Bruce

Bruce,

There are many festivals in Ireland early in the year.

Tralee Shindig Festival: http://www.shindigfestival.com/

Termonfeckin Set Dancing Festival: http://www.setdancingnews.net/news/ireland.lp#Termonfeckin

Lots of listings: http://eircom.entertainment.ie/festivals/  &  http://www.folkworld.de/frog/irlfst.html

Are you going to Ireland early in 2008?

Michele

Michele, Yes I am if I can find the festival I'm thinking of. Aer Lingus has a sale on now and I'm looking for a (reasonably) cheap air fare out of Orlando. Florida Bruce

OK I've got it. It's The Gathering Traditional Festival in Killarney Feb. 24-28. I'm going to find out if an overweight middle - aged guy can learn Irish dancing. 'Sounds like fun. Thanks to all. Florida Bruce

Excuse me. Their web site (www.thegathering.ie) says it's Feb. 20-24. It's late so I'd check to verify. FB

Bruce,

I hope you find a good airfare. I think just about anyone can have fun learning Irish dancing. It is a good way to expend calories too! Think of it as the Irish jig diet.
