I am very excited that I found this website. Ireland was on my mind today as it is most days and I wanted to get some input on a few things. My best friend and I are trying to plan a trip around the March/April months. We are both single and looking for lots of fun. We love, love, love irish music, pubs and stouts. We want to get to know locals and hang out. We aren't looking for a whirlwind trip (as we plan to go back often) but something friendly and fun. If anyone has read the Jewels trilogy by Nora Roberts, I want to stay in a town like that. Also the movie the Mathchmaker. I am drawn to the waterfront for some reason. From what I have seen so far, you guys are full of helpful hints. I welcome them!! Thanks,
I believe The Matchmaker was filmed in Roundstone ,County Galway. It in a beautful spot and has a couple of hotels and b&b's. It's is trully a village with great scenery.
Welcome to my forum! You must be very excited to be planning your first trip to Ireland. Do you know how long you will be there yet? Joan is right that The Matchmaker was filmed in Roundstone. It is a very small village. My favorite small town in Ireland is Kenmare. You might also enjoy Dingle, Kinsale and Doolin. For larger places look into Ennis, Galway and Kilkenny.
We are planning to be there for 7- 10 days. I'll look into those towns you mentioned and then maybe get some feedback on some other things. Thanks for the tips!!
Yes, do your research. Your trip will be better for it. Do you know where you are flying into yet? Shannon is good for more rural locations. We will be here when you need more advice.
