Hello Michele, I will be in Dublin the last part of February and I am looking for a low cost (50 euros or less) motel somewhere near the city center. I don't need much in the way of amenities as long as it has clean rooms. Any suggestions? Thanks, Florida Bruce
Check Bewleys and Jurys Hotels. They have some of the lowest rates going. The price you are working with is tough in central Dublin. Have you looked at hostels? Go to my links page to check on hostels.
If you are okay with being in marginal areas you might look at B&Bs north of the river. Not as nice as Dublin 2 or 4 but it might suit you. Go to Accommodations on my Links page.
The times that I choose to venture into Dublin, I always try to book in to Abberley House, which is the Drumcondra area. It is a great bargain, the hosts are terrific and the rooms are quite satisfactory. While it is certainly not the Ritz, I would say it rates high in the economy range. Its about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Temple Bar area. The Botanic Gardens are well within walking distance.
A Big Thanks to Bit. This place is in my price range and when I'm in Dublin I 'live' at the Irish National Botanic Gardens. On rainy days you can still explore the extensive plant houses and when the sun is shining and the flowers are blooming it's Pure Heaven. 'Looking forward to it. Thanks again. Florida Bruce
I am delighted that I could push information through my muzzy head and be of some help. I love the Botanical Gardens. They are, indeed, a fantastic way to wile away a rainy day.
I will look forward to hearing of your experience upon your return.
