i guess i am trying to get all my questions answered before i receive Michele's book but please excuse my anxiousness (our first time to Ireland). we are planning on driving from Dublin (clontarf) to kinsale -is this too ambitious for one day and what can i expect in reference to driving conditions.many thanks for all the excellent advice you have shared
Don't worry about asking questions here. That is what my forum is for. To help people plan their trips to Ireland. Feel free to ask whatever you want.
What route do you plan on taking to Kinsale? Are you stopping for sightseeing along the way? Do you have a limit on how many hours you want to be in the car?
i don't know what routes but my sisters want to stop at waterford (can't say that i relish that idea but it's their vacation also so i guess my brothers -in law and i will have to amuse ourselves) i just want to be sure that we are timely enough at our next BnB .
Dublin to Waterford will take 3 hours or more. If you get tied up in Dublin traffic you can easily add another hour or so. A couple of hours at Waterford Crystal (more if your sisters are heavy shoppers and if you have lunch). Waterford to Kinsale about another 3 hours. Once again, if you get caught in Cork traffic you can add on more time. There is a car ferry from Cobh that avoids Cork City. See my Transport page for details on the Crossriver Ferry.
