Any suggestions about an extra day?

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Our original itinerary included a stop in Sligo, but we no longer need to go there. My friend was mistaken about where her family lived.  We've learned that they live outside of Galway, which we already planned to visit, so we now have an extra day in our itinerary that I need to figure out where to plug in. Everyone involved is thinking about this, but I wanted to hit the experts up for some advice, too!

Our current plan looks like this:

Thursday (June 19th) - land in Dublin, stay there
Friday - Dublin
Saturday - drive to Galway (this is when we originally were going to Sligo, so we are now arriving a day early in Galway)
Sunday - Galway, Connemara

From Galway, we were going to Doolin for 1 day for the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren, then to Dingle for 2 days, Killarney for 1 day, Shannon for 1 day, then leave. So, I'm trying to decide where to add the extra day. I don't want to add another stop, we already have more 1 night stops than I wanted. I know we can get to the Aran islands from both Doolin and Galway, and probably couldn't currently fit it in, so I'm wondering of adding the day to either of those places would be good, or if some other place really needs an extra day. Do any of you have any words of wisdom? You've already been incredibly helpful in planning this far, so thank you!

I liked using Doolin as a base for two days.  It's a real small village, but has three of the best traditional music pubs in the country and the area is wonderful.  We took day trips from there up the coastal road in County Clare which was really impressive, and also went south of Doolin for a day and saw some other sights along the coast.  If you like the smaller settings, this is a nice place to put your feet up for a couple of days and do some trips out of there and return at night for the wonderful music in town.

Carrie,

I'd add a day to Dingle or Killarney.

Have a great trip, Joan

T'were it me, I would add the day to Killarney, as you have two days in Dingle already scheduled. It would give you more time to enjoy and appreciate Killarney and its environs Although Doolin has some fine Traditional music, there is little else to hold your attention once you have done the shops on Fisher street. Now, if you were using the second day to make a day trip to one of the Arans, then two nights in Doolin would be okay.

I would still look to Killarney.

I agree with Bit and YaYa, Killarney in June would be a great place to spend the extra day.
With the longer daylight, you could really add a lot of sightseeing. Killarney is a great place to base your day trips from. WC

Carrie,

I will add my vote for Killarney too.

Thank you all so much for your advice! The guys going with us didn't care where we stayed, my friend suggested staying in Galway for the 3rd day, but I think I've convinced her to spend it in Killarney to see more. I just need to find out if we can move our reservations at Heaton's in Dingle up a day so we're going there earlier to allow the extra day in Killarney.

Thank you all again! I can't imagine planning this trip without you all as such a great resource!
