Catholic Church decorum

This might be a strange question, but since the dress code for Catholic Churches in USA don't require any formal wear, do the churches in Ireland (specifically around Dingle) have a dress code? We are used to wearing jeans to church here, and didn't know if we needed to bring dressier clothes on our first trip to Ireland.

Thanks for any info.

No answer here but I have a similar question....

We'll be in Dingle for the Easter Triduum.  I assume we'll have no problems finding a Catholic Church to attend.  Correct??

Bob,

Welcome to my forum. You do not need dressy clothes for church in Ireland. Your jeans and casual clothes will be fine. Pack light and you will have more room to bring things home.

Jill and John, try this http://www.catholicireland.net/parishes/index.php to find the local churches and their Mass times. It was of great help to us in planning our visit to Limavady, Co. L'Derry over a weekend.

Sadly all too true.

Yet many do make an effort thankfully to dress more formally and this is always greatly appreciated; especially when this is folk visiting.

Few will say anything openly to you, but they notice and are grateful when reverence is expressed in dress.

The informality so often seen is not thought well of here.

It is after all a Sacred Place, worthy of our deep respect, especially in a foreign land.

Even if I did not wear the Habit, I would never enter a Church of any kind dressed immodestly or carelessly, but always with the deepest desire to present the best I had for the Lord Jesus.

All the more  so because there is no formal dress code here.

Then it is a gift freely given is it not?

To be neat and  modestly covered is no great problem.

Blessings
