Our honeymoon in Ireland - travel plan quesitons

Hello!  I stumbled onto your forum during my research and I am so glad that I did.  You are all so informative and enthusiastic about trips to Ireland, it is the best site on the web I have found so far for trip reports and answers to questions!  I have enjoyed a couple days of reading all of your wonderful reports of past trips and have found the questions asked so far about upcoming trips very helpful. Thanks! Now onto my questions/pleas for help:
My finace and I are planning a honeymoon in Ireland this summer (We will arrive July 1 and fly out July 14). Plane tickets are already purchased and now I am trying to get all of the details and accomodations worked out.  I want to have pre-booked places to stay as we are going in peak tourist season.  Here is the intinerary I have worked out so far.  Please tell me if you think its way to much:
Day 1: we will arrive early, get into Dublin and explore Dublin until we crash for the night.  I still don't have a place to stay in Dublin.  Would prefer a moderately priced, farily close to town B and B.  I was looking at Butlers Town house.  Anyone know anything about them?
Day 2: Dublin
Day 3: pick up rental car, drive to Powerscourt, then through the Wicklow mountains to place like Laragh for the night.  I was thinking the Tudor Lodge.
Day 4: Glendalough, Jerpoint Abbey, then Kilkenny for the night.  Still need a place idea.
Day 5: Kilkenny, Rock of Cashel, then drive onto Cobh for the night.
Day 6: Drive the coastal route from Cobh over to Kedmare.  No b and b yet
Day 7:Ring of Kerry. Stay in Kedmare again.
Day 8: Muckross House, Killarney National Park, then drive to Dingle.  I am hoping to stay at Heaton's Guesthouse.
Day 9: Dingle Penninsula. Stay in Dingle.
Day 10: Drive up to Doolin via Kilmer Ferry, Cliffs of Moher, stay in Doolin.
Day 11: The Burren, drive to Galway for the night.
Day 12: Drive across country to Trim. Trim Castle.
Day 13: Hill of Tara, Newgrange, Mellifont Abbey, stay in Trim again for the night.
Day 14: We fly out of Dublin airport in the afternoon.

We want to stay close to towns so we can experience the music and pubs withour worrying about trying to drive back to our b and b.  I would love suggestions if possible.  Thank you so much for taking time to look this over!!!
-Christy

Hello chochokie & welcome to the forum, it is a lot of fun and interesting things to read about, for sure! I am not familiar with B/B's in the areas you mentioned; however, there are two good places to eat in Kenmare that we have been to: Prego - 18 Henry St., Kenmare
064-42350 & Bacus Main Street Kenmare (064) 48300. Enjoy each day and have fun!

Christy,

Congratulations on your upcoming honeymoon. I'm so glad you found my forum and are already enoying all the Q&As and Trip Reports.

Your itinerary looks good and very well thought out. The only change that I personally would make would be skip Galway and add it to Kenmare. Of course, if you absolutely must see the city then keep things as they are.

Have you looked at my "Lodgings" page yet? It has lots of good places to stay listed. If you want a very elegant experience in Kenmare I highly recommend Sallyport House and the four-poster room.

Tudor Lodge has recently changed hands and I have not looked at it since. I prefer Riversdale House instead.

Mixed reviews for Butlers Townhouse. Check my lodgings page or Bewleys.

Thanks for the suggestions Michele! Riverdale House near Glendalough looks wonderful. I have sent an inquiry to see if they have space for us. As far as Galway goes, I think we could actually skip it and it would make a more relaxing stay in Kenmare. I'll have to talk to the fiance though, as he had talked about going there. Sallyport house looks very nice too, although it is slightly more then I want to spend each night, especially if we decide to spend three nights in Kenmare. It is our honeymoon though so maybe the splurge can be validated :)
I have looked at Bewleys in Dublin. It might be the best choice for us. I think I am going to buy your book as it looks most helpful.

Youngka - thanks for the suggestions of places to eat in Kenmare. I will add them to my folders :)

Hi!

I've been planning our trip (which is just three weeks away!!) for several months.
I regret that I did not buy Michele's book sooner!  Her book made my lodging choices simple.   It really helped my trip come together.

Happy planning!
Jill (who won't be drinking green beer in the States on St. Paddys but rather will enjoy a real Irish Guiness!)

Christy,

If you can manage a splurge Sallyport never disappoints.

Hi! I just purchased Micheles's book! I am very excited for it to get here :) Michele, I am thinking that if we decide to stay in Bewleys in Dublin, we just might be able to swing Sallyport in Kenmare. We will see how it all works out.
I got a reply from Riversdale and they do have an opening for the night we want to be there, so I am booking that. One down, 13 more nights to go!

Jill - you must be so excited for your trip! Have a wonderful time and then come back and tell us all about it :)

Christy,

In Dublin, I usually stay at Abberley House B&B. It is fairly well situated to walking the Temple Bar area, the Botanical Gardens and close enough to city centre to make it a worthwhile stay. Azalea Lodge B&B is a favorite of some friends who travel to Dublin frequently.

If it is a hotel atmosphere that you are looking for and to be in teh thick, so to speak, to be sure Bewleys would be a good fit.

Bit

Cowboy Craic, Saw your mention of the Abberley House in Dublin.  Is that B&B within walking distance to the touristy areas of Dublin or would we have to use bus transportation to get in the city? Thank you.  It looks lovely.  Betty

Bit - Thank you for the advise on b and b's in Dublin. We actually did decide to go with Bewleys and have booked it for the two nights we will be in Dublin. For the rest of the trip I would prefer b and b's, but in Dublin this seemed to be work best for us. Close enough to the city, but in a nice area. Thank you for the suggestions.

So, now we have three nights of accommodation booked and it is starting to come together. I am looking forward to getting Michele's book for even more ideas. Thanks for all of your help :)

Christy,

Glad to hear things are coming together for your trip. Once you have my book you can read the various reviews to see what appeals to you.
