Banshees...

We have some serious weather in the offing..getting fired up already

See

and

Banshees?
They used to tell the  children here when it was very windy that it was the banshees coming for them and they had better be good...

Spare a thought for the famers as lambing is in almost full spate now. Theywill be out trying to save new ones fromt he worst weather they could be born into.

Blessings.

Anchoress,

How did the storms treat you? Hope it was not too bad.

I was concerned too. I had visions of having to fish her out of Lough Derg or Donegal Bay!

Dia Duit All,

This post reminded me of how I came to be blessed with Anchoress' friendship. It was almost this time last May that she posted on another forum a post about the floods they were experiencing and the lambkins that were lost because of it. I had told her that I wished for a time portal so that I could come and help out.

Spring time is a beautiful time and, yet, a hazardous time for those who are blessed to be called stewards of the land. So, I say an extra prayer each morning for a spring season of birth and growing that is marked more with blessings than sorrows, knowing that there will be a fair mix of both.

To be sure, almost positively, she has not been washed away. THough, if the rains are as heavy as last spring, she may dfeel as though she has done so, indeed.

Slan Agus Barrogs,

Bit

The real storm hit last night; westerlies of over 150 kph.

No way would I venture out of the door in this.

I had not bothered with the forecasts as Sunday was not too bad; this one hit just the north  here and Scotland  next.

So when it started I checked the forecast and was... surprised indeed.

Storm surges of 10 metres on the Donegal coast.

The noise has been phenomenal. Sleep was impossible; we are atop a mountain here.  We moved from Glen last year.

Due to continue this morning, with thunder and snow.

But the car is still there and the power has held. When it gets light we will see what damage there is; I did not move my window boxes as I was not aware it would be so bad. They could be in ???? by now .....

A night of prayer for all out in it.....

Now Bit; no lambs were lost as Sister waded in and got them all out, as local legend has it.. five ewes and ten lambs rescued.   ( Actually I shamed the men into doing it by wading in to my waist and trying, but legend says else.... but there is no arguing with Irish folk lore)

Blessings

Anchoress,

We are glad to hear that you and the lambs are safe. Those storms with hurricane force winds can be fierce. After living in Florida for 28 years I know how bad they can be. Funny that in Ireland they are not considered hurricanes but just winter storms. Hope you got a good night's sleep tonight.

Michele

Michele;

for your good wishes, thank you.

The gale finally subsided last night so sleep came.

Yes, odd distinction that. A rose by any other name!!

Thousands of homes were left without power, and Pearse Station in Dublin had  to close as its roof was seriously damaged.

Blessings

Well we had a few "banshees" of our own roar through Atlanta last night.
