help 1st time Ireland.

Planning a 10-day trip on June (2 days Dublin, train to Galway, where we'll be 3 nights and hire a car). Drive on the other side will be a smile.gif experience (we're Spanish)

One of our days in Galway, do you think doable

              Galway-Oughterard-Roundstone-Clifden-Letterfrack-Kylemore-Connemara NP-Cong-Galway in a day? Any suggestions?

The day we leave Galway, it's doable Galway-Dingle via Doolin? (if weather isn't fine other days we'll see Cliffs this day) We think it's possible in 4h30m if we go early in the morning, we'll be in Dingle to do Connor Pass or The Slea Head Drive, and next morning (sleeping that night in Dingle) can do what it was not possible the day before.

is it too much for a day Galway-Dingle and then do one tour in Dingle? Next day we'll do the other tour and after this, go ahead to Killarney to stay 1 night.

Last question: it's possible to do ROK in one day? Clockwise or not? Is it the road so narrow?

              Thank you very much

jb007,

Welcome to my forum! Be sure to take a look at my Car Rental & Driving page for info on that. You will likely become accustomed to driving on the left within a few hours or a day.

You can certainly see Connemara as a day trip from Galway. I have done it many times myself. It will be a full day with sightseeing stops along the way. Some places that I like are Kylemore Abbey, Connemara National Park, Killary Harbor (boat rides), Dog's Bay (near Roundstone), Sky Drive (near Clifden) and Cong for its Quiet Man associations.

Driving from Galway to Dingle will take most of your day. You can go down the coast of Clare, stopping at the Cliffs of Moher, and take the ferry to Kerry. You should plan to see Slea Head Drive on the next day. That will mean two overnight stays in Dingle.

You can do the ROK as a one day trip from Killarney. It will take most of the day especially if you plan on stopping at sightseeing attractions. The road is narrow in places but is fine.

jb007, you will love Ireland. The west coast and the sw coast of Ireland are beautiful and magical places. Don't worry about what you'll be "missing". When you get to Ireland, you'll be so delighted with what you are experiencing, you will forget all about the sites you couldn't fit into your itinerary. In fact, when you leave each place, you will wish you could stay longer...you'll leave part of your heart behind. I left my breath on the Cliffs of Moher...I left my soul on the Dingle Peninsula...I left my ears at Matt Malloy's pub in Westport, County Mayo...and I left my heart in Belfast, where my beloved Irish grandmother grew up.

Enjoy! Don't be afraid to leave something out of your plan if needed...

Michele gives terrific advice!
