I was in Ireland in May 2007, and I had the same hope to ride on the beach. I have a lot of riding experience, although I am not as fit as I used to be!

Anyway, my two daughters have limited experience, and the stable's policy did not allow for beach riding by novice riders. When I asked them to explain, they said the horses get pretty worked up and usually take off at a gallop. Therefore, they take only experienced riders to the beach. Needless to say, we stuck to the mountain, and had a wonderful ride.

I don't know if most stables have this same policy in place. A few of the ads I saw over there mentioned the same requirement.

We rode at Long's in Dingle. I rode a wonderful bay named Tom.
