We are taking a trip to Ireland from May 13 to the 23 and we are interested in two things horseback riding on a beach/ocean, we have a 10 year old that is not accomplished in riding but has riden a horse before. We also are interested in taking an afternoon whale watching trip. Does any have any recommendations. We will be traveling the South West part of Ireland going up to Shannon.
Welcome to my forum! I have moved your topic to the Q&A section of the forum. Hope that is okay with you. There are many places to go horseback riding on a beach. Try Dingle Horseriding: http://www.dinglehorseriding.com/
I was in Ireland in May 2007, and I had the same hope to ride on the beach. I have a lot of riding experience, although I am not as fit as I used to be! Anyway, my two daughters have limited experience, and the stable's policy did not allow for beach riding by novice riders. When I asked them to explain, they said the horses get pretty worked up and usually take off at a gallop. Therefore, they take only experienced riders to the beach. Needless to say, we stuck to the mountain, and had a wonderful ride.
I don't know if most stables have this same policy in place. A few of the ads I saw over there mentioned the same requirement.
We rode at Long's in Dingle. I rode a wonderful bay named Tom.
