Hi Everyone, GPS is quite popular here in the states for navigating. I don't personally own one. Do the rental companies in Ireland push GPS systems to rent. If so, is a GPS worth renting. Would seem like another thing to worry about being stolen from the rental car. Any thoughts?? -gary
While I certainly wouldn't argue with anyone who felt they needed one over there, I've never messed with it and feel it would take away from the experience. Reading maps, getting lost a couple of times, and talking with locals along the way is really the joy of driving in Ireland. Something about a GPS system in the middle of the Burren just doesn't sit right with me!
That kind of stuff I'll leave here in the U.S. while I'm on vacation there.
The car companies don't "push" the GPS systems. You can rent one if you want but it costs extra. I haven't used one yet in Ireland. But may do so on my next trip just to try it out. Like Sidz I enjoy occasionally getting lost in the countryside. Oh, what wonderful adventures find me then.
