Any Economical Dining Ideas? Leaving 6/8 for Kenmare, Dingle, Dublin ...

Hello all, we are leaving Sunday for Shannon and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for inexpensive restaurants in the places where we are visiting.  The dollar is so weak and we want to try to keep our costs down.  We are spending most of our time in Dingle, Killarney/Kenmare, Cashel and Dublin.  I got such good responses on the last post, I thought I would try again.  Any wonderful suggestions out there???
THANK YOU

PJY Try Prego in Kenmare, nice atmosphere, good prices. Dingle we enjoyed eating at John Benny's Bar & Restaurant - good for lunch & dinner. Have a good time, know you will like the weather! Youngka

PJY,

I second the recommendation for Prego in Kenmare. I had a delicious lasagne lunch with garlic bread that was only 7.95 and it was a full portion. You can get a reasonably priced dinner there too. The pizzas are good. Jam is good but they close early and is mainly a lunch restaurant.

In Dingle try The Apple Tree. I think they close at 5 pm. The pubs generally have cheaper food than the restaurants. Although if you get an "early bird" dinner it can be much better value than dining later.

In Killarney Bricin does an early bird and Murphy's Pub is pretty good.

In Cashel there is a new Italian. Cafe Hans is good for lunch (not Chez Hans, which is expensive).

Try to have a big lunch and then get sandwiches and snacks for dinner. It will save you a lot of money.

Thanks so much to both of you, I appreciate the recommendations.  Tomorrow is our busy packing day and Sunday at 6am we are on our way.
Do you have any suggestions for Dublin??

PJY,

I have plenty of recommendations for Dublin. Unfortunately they don't fit into your your "economical" category.

Have a wonderful trip. Bon voyage!

In Killarney we ran across "early bird specials" that made the dining a bit more affordable. Just check the restaurant windows in the downtown district, they will show menus and specials. My family and I have a tendency to eat earlier than most Irish folks, so it was no trouble at all, schedule-wise. We had pub grub in Dingle and Cashel; no special insight there, it was all good, the pubs all seemed to run a special or two (a bit heavy on chips for me). We never ate in Kenmare (Guinness Is Good For You) and never made it to Dublin at all. Some thing to look forward to for next trip. WC
