Usually, no. The limit is per day, not per transaction. BUT...as always, check with your bank. Can't say it enough, check with your bank!!!!

While you are checking with your bank, see if they would temporarily increase your withdrawal amount limit while you are traveling.

But again, check with your bank. :)

I was able to access my checking account for more than the limit by having both my and my husband's ATM cards. More than once I took out the limit on mine and then immediately used his. He was at home in Texas so had no idea how much fun his card was having.

These cards were drawing from the joint checking account. Of course, I had to torture him to get his PIN from him before I left...

calvo,

As everyone is saying...check with your bank. You can temporarily raise your withdrawal limit per day. Like Dude, I use my ATM and my husband's. That gives me two transactions per day. Mostly I use credit cards for everything and end up taking very little cash from the ATM.

Ditto everyone else - last month, we were about to take out more than 200 euros in one transactions whenever we tried because we talked to our bank ahead of time.

Thanks everyone! As you see doing your homework in advance is the best way to get the most out of Ireland.
